Equisetum telmateia, (Giant Horsetail). Castle Eden Dene, County Durham, 27 March 2017. Fertile stems appearing before the vegetative ones, 15-25(-40) cm, ivory-white, unbranched, thick, succulent; sheaths loose, close together, pale brown, with (15-)20-30(-40) dark teeth. Cones terminal, (20-)40-80 * 15-20 mm, greenish-cream with a brown tip, ellipsoid, rounded at apex. Spores ripe April. 2n = 216.
